This is an international recognition that is linked to the Cabo Verde government’s Tourism and Rural Environmental Improvement Programme, which aims to increase family incomes, enhance community resilience and ensure inclusive sustainable development. São Nicolau is one of the islands included in this programme, which will create 18 tourist villages nationally with an investment of approximately 8.2 million euros under the Tourism Operational Programme, where it is planned to introduce new infrastructure, improve existing infrastructure in terms of water supply and sanitation, and empower residents to better receive tourists.
